International connivance leads to Armenian provocation

Baku, Azerbaijan, Dec. 19

At the end of each year it is usually time to sum up the results of political processes – especially if a presidential meeting between Azerbaijan and Armenia on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict took place in mid-December.

However, judging by Armenia’s aggressive post-meeting statements, it becomes obvious that Yerevan once again tried to buy time, to keep the status quo in place. The statements of Armenia’s officials are too shallow and aggressive to keep hope for Armenia’s conscience alive.

Both the Minsk Group co-chairs and the sides are well aware who remains the main reason behind the ongoing confrontation.

For many years, following the sides’ meetings, after Yerevan’s provocative statements, nothing happens, and there’s hardly any hope left for Armenia to be reasonable. And that is despite Azerbaijan’s good will, despite that the country is ready to negotiate with an aggressor, for the sake of saving the lives of ordinary people.

International connivance has led to Armenian officials, without any shame of being called aggressors, manage to accuse Baku of protecting its own lands from Armenian soldiers.

The question is who and when will finally condemn the military command and leadership of the aggressor country. The co-chairs settle for endless calls, allowing aggressors to do anything that contradicts international law.

Alas, all the optimistic promises of mediators that they will continue efforts are becoming less and less convincing.

While Yerevan feels impunity, there is iniquity going on, as the world shows all-around acquiescence. Such precedents would eventually lead the world to chaos, and it is important that the world community realizes this and punishes those guilty in war.
