Speaker of Azerbaijan`s Parliament Ogtay Asadov has today met a parliamentary delegation of Australia, who is in Baku to monitor the upcoming parliamentary elections.
The meeting focused on the Azerbaijan-Australia relations and the parliamentary elections.
Parliament Speaker Ogtay Asadov briefed the delegation on the preparations for the elections. The speaker noted that the country would hold the 5th parliamentary elections after regaining its independence. He said each time elections in the country were held in a transparent and democratic manner with the high voter turnout.
Ogtay Asadov expressed his confidence that the upcoming parliamentary elections would be held in this way too.
The Parliament Speaker hailed Azerbaijan-Australia interparliamentary relations.
It was noted that Azerbaijan is an open country for investment. Some Australian companies are operating in Azerbaijan, and the country itself also makes investment.
Ogtay Asadov stressed the importance of high-level reciprocal visits in terms of further expansion of bilateral ties between the two countries.
The Australian delegation was also informed about the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Head of the delegation Luke Simpkins expressed confidence that relations between the two countries would continue to develop.
