Two Armenian Krunk-25 tactical unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), trying to fly over the Azerbaijani armed forces’ positions in the Aghdam district’s direction along the frontline, were destroyed thanks to vigilance of air defense units of Azerbaijani army, said Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry August 6.
The ministry said the Krunk-25 tactical UAV is designed for conducting aerial reconnaissance at tactical depth.
The UAV has programmable autopilot and is equipped with video and photo cameras.
Its maximum flight altitude is 5,400 meters, take-off weight is 60 kg, length is 3.8 meters, and wingspan is 5 meters.
The UAV has maximum flight duration of 5 hours and cruising speed of 150 km h.
The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. As a result of the ensuing war, in 1992 Armenian armed forces occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.
The two countries signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, Russia, France and the US are currently holding peace negotiations. Armenia has not yet implemented the UN Security Council’s four resolutions on the liberation of the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding regions.
