Azerbaijan`s Embassy in Beijing has prevented another provocation of Armenians who this time attempted to mislead the Chinese society.
Armenians attempted to arrange a lecture titled “Faith and tradition: Armenian Apostolic Church, Community-building in Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh” as part of “The basics of Christianity” seminar organized by the Russian Research Center and the East China Normal University in Shanghai. The lecture was supposed to be delivered by Kimitaka Matsuzato, a Japanese specialist, and a lecturer of the Armenian origin Stefan Danielyan.
Azerbaijanis who live and research in Shanghai notified the Embassy of Armenians` plans. The Embassy sent a letter to rector of the university, requesting the removal of the lecture from the seminar`s agenda. In the letter, the Embassy said Armenians want to propagate their illegal territorial claims “but not to promote high religious ideals”. The Embassy said this lecture runs contrary to the spirit of the Azerbaijani-Chinese bilateral relations. The Embassy also informed the rector of the history of the activities of the Armenian Church in the Caucasus.
The management of the East China Normal University removed the lecture from the agenda of the seminar. In his response letter, the rector of the university said the lecture was replaced with another one, and thanked the Embassy for cooperation.
