Azerbaijan urges international community to impose serious sanctions against Armenia

Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry issued a statement in response to the escalation of violation on the contact line of Azerbaijani and Armenian troops.

The statement reads that the occupant Armenian Army violated the ceasefire on the contact line of Armenian-Azerbaijan troops on recent days and attacked on positions of Azerbaijani Army: “Intelligence-saboteur groups of Armenian Armed Forces have repeatedly tried to cross the line of contact. These provocative actions of the Armenian side led to escalation of violation significantly along the frontline and caused a lot of casualties. All responsibility for a dangerous situation is on the official Yerevan, given an instruction to organize these provocative actions,” APA reports quoting the Press Service of the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan

Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry notes that ignorance of the relevant UN Security Council resolutions by occupant Armenia, the implementation of the policy of ethnic cleansing, the expulsion of more than 1 million people from their homes and the perpetration of such provocative actions that harm the peace process, provide a basis for the international community to adopt serious sanctions against Armenia: “The biggest threat to the peace process is existence of the Armed Forces of Armenia in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan. Therefore, the Armed Forces of Armenia, first of all, must leave the occupied territories of Azerbaijan. The faster Armenian side is aware of this, the sooner peace, stability and certainty can be recovered in the region,” the statement reads. APA
