The Republic of Azerbaijan has repatriated an Armenian citizen who was detained last week on the line of contact.
According to the State Committee on Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing People, Lusine Qukasovna Abovian, a resident of Savarsharan village, Noyemberyan, Armenia, born in 1942, was repatriated in accordance with the international humanitarian law.
“Shots were heard from nearby Armenian positions when the Armenian citizen was being repatriated to the Armenian side through the International Committee of the Red Cross.
“Members of the commission`s working group asked the representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross to make the Armenian side give security guarantee and stop the shooting. After these demands were fulfilled Lusine Abovian was repatriated to the Armenian side,” the State Commission said.
