Australian MPs visits Azerbaijani Parliament

An Australian delegation of parliamentarians has visited Azerbaijan`s parliament as they are in Baku to monitor the upcoming parliamentary elections. Led by MP Luke Simpkins, the delegation had a meeting with Deputy Executive Secretary of the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP) Siyavush Novruzov.

Mr Simpkins hailed development processes in Azerbaijan, especially the country`s achievements in economic and social fields. He underlined the importance of expanding Azerbaijani-Australian relations.

Mr Novruzov gave an insight into the history and activities of YAP. He highlighted preparations for the parliamentary elections due to take place on November 1. He said the parliament invited all international organizations and foreign parliaments to monitor the upcoming elections.

Mr. Novruzov said about 500 international and 60,000 local observers have already been accredited to monitor the elections.

The Australian MPs then met leaders of other political parties represented in the parliament.

Chairman of the Party for Democratic Reforms Asim Mollazade drew the Australian MPs` attention to pre-electoral situation in the country and dialogue between local political parties .
