The 90th anniversary of Azerbaijan’s world-renowned statesman and national leader Heydar Aliyev has been marked in Australia.
The event in a local restaurant in Sydney was organized at the initiative of Australian-Azerbaijani-Turkish Friendship Unity President Imametdin Kassoumov. Event participants talked about the late president Heydar Aliyev’s prominent role and merits in strengthening the independence and statehood of Azerbaijan, its socioeconomic development and international recognition.
Also, Australian-Azerbaijani-Turkish Friendship Unity’s official website was launched on the anniversary of the national leader.
Besides, “The Voice of Azerbaijan”, an Azerbaijani language radio broadcasting once a week on Monday at 2000 FM 98.5, dedicated a special program to Heydar Aliyev’s memory.
It was noted in the program that as a result of his successful political course and strategy, Azerbaijan, a country which was economically crippled and war-torn in the early 1990s as a result of Armenian aggression, started being reckoned with in the regional and international issues within a short period of time.
Azerbaijan’s national leader Heydar Aliyev was born on 10 May, 1923 and died on 12 December, 2003.
