Over the past 24 hours, Armenian military 75 times broke ceasefire on various parts of the contact line of Azerbaijani and Armenian troops.
Armenians used large-caliber machine guns and mortars while violation of the ceasefire, said Azerbaijani Defense Ministry Sept. 22.
Armenian armed forces stationed on nameless heights in the Ijevan district and in the Voskevan village of Noyemberyan district of Armenia opened fire at Azerbaijani positions located in the Gushchu Ayrim village and the nameless heights of the Gazakh district.
Armenians stationed in the Mosesgeh village of Armenia’s Berd district opened fire at Azerbaijani positions located in the Aghdam and Alibayli villages of Tovuz district.
Aside from that, Armenians stationed in the Gil village and on the nameless heights of Krasnoselsk district of Armenia opened fire at Azerbaijani positions on the nameless heights of Gadabay district.
Azerbaijani positions also came under fire of Armenians stationed in the Tapgaragoyunlu, Talish, Gulustan villages of Goranboy district, the Chilyaburt, Goyarkh, Yarimja, Chayli, Gizil Oba villages of the Terter district, the Novruzlu, Sarijali, Javahirli, Yusifjanli, Shikhlar, Kangarli, Bash Garvand villages of Aghdam district, the Kuropatkino village of Khojavand district, the Horadiz, Garakhanbayli, Gorgan villages of the Fizuli district and the Mehdili village of Jabrail district.
Aside from that, Armenians were firing from positions on the nameless heights in the Goy-Gol, Goranboy, Khojavand and Fizuli districts.
Given the operational situation, the Azerbaijani armed forces inflicted 100 fire strikes on the enemy positions.
The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. As a result of the ensuing war, in 1992 Armenian armed forces occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.
The two countries signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, Russia, France and the US are currently holding peace negotiations. Armenia has not yet implemented the UN Security Council’s four resolutions on the liberation of the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding regions.
