Over the past 24 hours, Armenian military 92 times broke ceasefire on various parts of the contact line of Azerbaijani and Armenian troops.
Armenians used large-caliber machine guns and mortars while violation of the ceasefire, the Azerbaijani defense ministry Sept. 24.
Armenian armed forces stationed on nameless heights in the Dovekh village of Noyemberyan district of Armenia opened fire at Azerbaijani positions located in Qaymaqli and Kemerli villages of the Qazakh district.
Azerbaijani positions also came under fire of Armenians stationed in Tapgaragoyunlu, Talish, Gulustan villages of the Goranboy district, Chilyaburt, Goyarkh, Gizil Oba, Chayli villages of the Terter district, Novruzlu, Sarijali, Qaraqashli, Yusifjanli, Kengarli, Shuraabad, Merzili villages of the Aghdam district, Kuropatkino village of the Khojavand district, Horadiz, Garakhanbayli, Gorgan, Ashagi Seyidahmadli, Ashagi Abdurrakhmanli villages of the Fizuli district and Mehdili village of the Jabrail district.
Aside from that, Armenians were firing from positions on the nameless heights in the Goygol, Goranboy, Khojavand, Fizuli districts.
Given the operational situation, the Azerbaijani armed forces inflicted 124 fire strikes on the enemy positions.
The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. As a result of the ensuing war, in 1992 Armenian armed forces occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.
The two countries signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, Russia, France and the US are currently holding peace negotiations. Armenia has not yet implemented the UN Security Council’s four resolutions on the liberation of the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding regions.
