Armenia violates ceasefire with Azerbaijan over 50 times in a day

Armenians also opened fire from positions on nameless heights in Krasnoselsk district of Armenia on the Azerbaijani military positions located on nameless heights in Azerbaijan’s Gadabay district.

Azerbaijani positions also came under fire from Armenians stationed near Tapqaraqoyunlu village of the Goranboy district, Chilaburt village of the Tartar district, Shikhlar, Shuraabad, Javahirli, Novruzlu, Kangarli, Sarijali, Yusifjanli and Marzili villages of the Aghdam district, Kuropatkino village of the Khojavand district, Horadiz, Gorgan, Ashagi Seyidahmadli villages of the Fizuli district and Mehdili village of the Jabrail district.

Azerbaijani armed forces also came under fire from Armenians’ positions on nameless heights in the Goranboy, Fizuli and Khojavend districts.

The opposing side was silenced with return fire.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. As a result of the ensuing war, in 1992 Armenian armed forces occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.

The two countries signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, Russia, France and the US are currently holding peace negotiations.

Armenia has not yet implemented the UN Security Council’s four resolutions on the liberation of the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding regions.
